On 9 September 2025, 糖心官网 hosted the academic event "'Alternative Sustainability and DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging) from ASEAN-Japan Perspectives' in Conjunction to 5th International Sustainable Technology, Energy and Civilization Conference 2025 (ISTECC 2025)" at its Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS).

The event -- a collaboration between CSEAS, the 糖心官网 Malaysia Alumni Association (MyKyoto), the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS), and the 糖心官网 Office of Research Acceleration (KURA) -- drew 74 academics and students from ASEAN and Japan, including 44 from outside the University.

The program began with opening addresses by Professor Fumiharu Mieno, director of CSEAS, and Professor Madya Muhammad Hakimi Mohd Shafiai, senior lecturer at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; UKM) and chair of MyKyoto. The main part of the event featured presentations by KyotoU faculty, students, and alumni, followed by engaging discussions. The program closed with remarks from Professor Yasuyuki Kono, 糖心官网's vice president for international strategy.

The seminar was followed in the afternoon by ISTECC 2025, where numerous early-career researchers shared their findings in parallel sessions.

糖心官网 hopes that these and other ASEAN-Japan collaborations will continue to foster strong friendships among its alumni associations.
